Saturday

As a native Texan, I'd just like to say that IT'S HOT AS HAIL YALL! It's gotten to the point where all I want to do is hide inside with the comfort of the air conditioner. The only time you can actually enjoy being outside is in the evening when it begins to cool down and that is exactly what we did on Saturday. We got to the beach just in time to enjoy the sunset and left once it got too dark to see anything.

So let's talk about my swimsuit. It's my favorite! I like it so much that I have it in two different colors, black and red. You can't see the whole thing on me because I'm shy, but the top is the best part anyway. It even looks cute worn as a top. Just throw on a skirt or shorts and you have yourself an outfit perfect for summer! I bought it online from Walmart, can you believe it?! They sell the exact same retro style swimsuit on other websites, like ModCloth.com, for wayyyyy more, but the one from Walmart is just as cute, is good quality, and only a fraction of the price. FYI, it comes in several different colors AND it's on sale right now. Just click the link below.

California Bound

Lavender seems to be my favorite color this season. I just got this cute polka dot lavender top (on sale!), I recently bought some lavender sneakers, and my nails are painted a pretty shade of lavender, but let's forget about what I'm wearing right now because I have some exciting news! I will be California bound with my favorite person ever (Victor duh) from this Sunday to next Sunday! An entire lovely week away from home in one of the best places in the country. Victor has never been anywhere in California before, but I've been to San Francisco once when I was eight. I was too young back then to really take it all in so I'm super psyched to go as an adult. We are flying in bright and early on Sunday to Long Beach. My brother lives just outside of Los Angeles so we're staying with him while we explore the whole Los Angeles/Orange County area. After a couple days we're going to take a coastal road trip up to San Francisco and leave from there the following Sunday. We are staying at the most AMAZING place in SF that we found on airbnb.com. If you've never used airbnb before, I HIGHLY recommend using them to find a place to stay while traveling. Anyways, if you live or have ever been anywhere in and between LA and SF, I would love to hear any recommendations you have for places to eat, things to see, places to visit, stores to shop at, etc.

I can hardly contain my excitement!!! Happy Friday!

Inspired by the 60's

I'm always inspired and drawn to looks from the 60's - early 70's, but it's not a style I choose to wear on a regular basis. That's what I like about fashion though. The possibilities are endless and you don't always have to stick to just one style.

In a Garden

I find rompers to be super comfortable and cute, yet highly impractical. This is the first romper I ever purchased and it has been a summer favorite in my closet for the past three years. I love the sweetheart neckline, floral print, accentuated waist line, and loose fitting bottom, but the side zipper closure and the fact that it's a one-piece makes it a little uncomfortable to get in and out of when I need to use the restroom. The first time I wore this romper was to a bar/venue to see a band. Those kind of places are not really known for their exceptionally clean restrooms so you can imagine my dismay when I realized, as a first time romper wearer, that I had to get BUTT NAKED to do my bizznas. For this reason, I only own three rompers. This is a low number considering the number of times I was out shopping and thought to myself, "OMG this romper is so cute! I need it!" Then I remember the time I had to get completely naked in a dirty public restroom and end up sadly putting the romper back on the rack. Does anyone else share this same thought about the difficulties of wearing rompers?

Long weekend

Dress: TJ Maxx
Sandals: Buffalo Exchange

Hope everyone had a nice long weekend! Mine was spent mostly outside enjoying the perfect weather and soaking up the sunshine. We went on long walks, rode bikes, ate BBQ, went to an art museum, went to the zoo, and drove through the Sam Houston National Forrest with the top down and hair blowing in the wind amongst other things.

These pictures were taken on one of those said long walks. I didn't plan on taking outfit pictures but I happened to have my camera on me and I liked my outfit enough to have my picture taken so say hello to my new favorite dress! I was lucky and found this dress at TJ Maxx for only $10! This was one of those dresses where I didn't even have to think twice about if I liked it or not before buying it. It has everything I like in a dress: contrast, polka dots, perfect length, cute babydoll cut, movability (is that a word?) and I haven't even gotten to the adorable cutout heart it has in the back. That alone would've sold me on it. I can pair this dress with just about any color shoe/sandal for an added pop of color and it's cute enough on it's own without having to style or accessorize too much. What's not to love?!

Easter weekend

Spring is definitely in the air! It has warmed up a lot in the last month and I am already daydreaming about swimming pools and lazy days on the beach. I think this floral skirt is the most springy piece of clothing I own so I thought it was fitting to wear it on this gorgeous spring day. I spent half the day hanging out with my friend Megan since we had off from school. We started the day early with breakfast tacos, stopped by the university bookstore to purchase our cap and gown for graduation (WOO!), took some pictures, checked out the newest Anthropologie store, and ended with yummy cupcakes from Sprinkles!
For the rest of the weekend I plan on relaxing, spending time outside, and then we are going to Victor's parents house on Sunday for Easter and to celebrate his brother's birthday. I think we are going to barbecue which I am really excited about because his parents make the best barbecue I've ever had!

Hope everyone has a relaxing and fun weekend!

Spring wedding

This is what I wore to a wedding we attended over the weekend in Galveston (a beach). The weather was beautiful, but it was super windy and really cold! Luckily, the ceremony was short and sweet, and we had a great time at the reception.

I first saw this dress on a girl that I met at my friend's birthday dinner, but I forgot to ask her where she got it. I randomly saw this dress again on a girl crossing the street when we took a quick trip to Austin a few weeks ago. This time I REALLY wanted to know where I could get it! Well, I went to Forever 21 last weekend to get a new dress to wear to the wedding and this dress immediately caught my eye. This was the third time I had seen this dress and I liked it so much from seeing it on other people, so I just had to get it. I like how springy it is, but I especially like the contrast of the black and white floral pattern against the bright green. The pleats are also a plus! This is definitely one of my new favorite dresses that I plan to wear over and over and over again.

Airplane lady

A six year old told me my jacket made me look like an "airplane lady". I'm not sure if that was meant as a compliment or not, but I was flattered and took it as a compliment anyway because I always liked the way lady flight attendants looked. They are always so put together from head to toe. When I was a little girl, I would stop and stare at them as they quickly power-walked through the airport with their high heels click-clacking, rolling luggage in tow, rushing to make it to their next flight. I thought they looked so sophisticated and important. For a while, I thought it would be really cool to work as a stewardess because you got to travel to many places and wear a neat uniform, but then I would  remember that would be a really bad career choice for me because I always get air sickness when I fly. It used to be really bad when I was younger. So bad that I would throw up at least twice in one flight and feel sick to my stomach the rest of the way, but I think I'm finally starting to grow out of it. The last two times I flew, I managed not to throw up once! Well this post is starting to go  to weird places so I'll just leave it at that. Sorry if I grossed you out!

LOVE

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought I would get dolled up in the girliest outfit I could put together. Pink lipstick, lacy peter pan collar, bubblegum pink skirt, floral tights, and heart flats. Doesn't get any girlier than that in my book. I suppose I could've worn heels, but I'm just not a heels wearin' kind of gal. To complete this Valentine's Day look, I chose to pose and prance around in front of a mural that says "LOVE". How fitting is that?! I could not think of a better location for the occasion. I actually found this mural last night while driving around town aimlessly. Victor and I do that sometimes when we get bored. Driving around getting lost in your own city is fun, and in this case, you end up finding really neat spots to take pictures! As soon as we drove passed it, a lightbulb went off in my head, and I immediately started plotting my next outfit post! That sounds really silly when I say it out loud. Does that ever happen to you?
Despite this valentine themed post, I'm not too crazy about Valentine's Day. Yes, it's meant to be a day to show how much you appreciate all the special people in your life, but I feel like it's not all that special because EVERYONE out there is celebrating too, and then there's that pressure that you need to do something super romantic and get flowers and chocolate and blah blah blah. Why not show them how much you care all year round and not just on one day of the year? I'd much rather celebrate dates that mean something to me personally  like yearly anniversaries because it makes me think about the beginning of our relationship and I get butterflies in my stomach all over again. Don't get me wrong, I still like the holiday and try to do something a little special outside of our regular routine, but I think it's overrated in general, and I am perfectly happy just staying at home, watching our favorite shows or listening to records, and eating a nice little home cooked meal. What do you like to do for Valentine's Day?
