Thoughts on picture taking and new glasses

Today was the first time I thought to put these clothing items together and now it is my new favorite outfit. I love when I discover new outfits just by pairing different pieces together that I've owned for a long time!

I am learning that I am such a chicken when it comes to taking outfit pictures. I took these pictures this morning on my back porch when I thought the coast was clear to awkwardly take pictures of myself in front of my tripod. However, as soon as I heard my neighbor upstairs open her door, I immediately grabbed my camera and ran inside. "Why did I do that??!!", I thought to myself. I guess because I'm afraid of someone seeing me, wondering what I'm doing, then asking me why I'm taking pictures, and then having to explain that I write a blog that somewhat focuses on personal style. I don't know why that would be an embarrassing topic to discuss with someone, considering I post these pictures on the internet for anyone to see. I'm just really shy when it comes to talking to people in person!

Does anyone else think taking pictures of yourself is kind of a weird thing? I am definitely no model so I never know how to pose, where to put my hands, if I should smile or not, and then when I do smile it feels so unnatural and fake. Usually the end result is me half smiling with my mouth closed. It helps when someone else is behind the camera, but then I feel bad for making them take pictures of me while I awkwardly pose.

On another note, I recently got new glasses and I love them! I normally gravitate towards darker frames like black, dark brown, or dark red. This time I decided go the complete opposite way on the color spectrum and opt for these clear cat eye frames. I am so glad I did! What do you think? You can't tell from the pictures, but the arms are black and they have cute little silver hearts on the front.

  2. So cute! I love the outfit and those glasses are too fabulous, I've been interested in some clear or white frames for myself but I'm not sure if I can pull em off!

I'm the same way about picture taking! I don't know why I don't want anyone to see me but I'm awkward enough doing them by myself, someone walking by would make me stop in my tracks and pretend to just be setting up my camera for some other random photo taking.

  3. I'm exactly the same about taking photos :) Love those new glasses, they've got all the style without the heaviness of a dark colour.

  4. I love your blouse and glasses!
I feel the same way about taking photos.... it's super awkward even when you're by yourself! but I feel that I get more of the shots I want with my tripod and I can take them without feeling rushed! I actually have a funny story about running into someone while taking outfit photos: http://zippedydooda.blogspot.com/2012/02/embarrassing-and-not-so-embarrassing.html
